Experience
2023 to Present
Goodwill Industries International
Instructional Designer
As an instructional designer, I utilize adult learning theories and brain science to develop engaging eLearning and cohort experiences. I work with SMEs to identify learning objectives, create outline and scripts, and develop the learning asset. We discuss the most appropriate approach to learning as a course is not always the answer. I believe all projects should be rooted in data to show the need for learning as well as align with an organization's strategic plan. I look for opportunities to collaborate across the organization to build a culture of learning. In addition, I regularly engage with learning professionals across the network about instructional design best practices.

I develop professional learning opportunities for staff both at my school and the district-level. In addition, I serve as the system admin for Schoology for the county, where I look for opportunities for growth with the LMS as well as work with our Schoology representative on a regular basis. I also serve as the secondary lead for our district gradebook.

In Henrico, I taught both at the high school and middle school levels in Earth Science. I developed quality lessons for my students which encourage them to think critically and apply their knowledge to new situations. As a science teacher, I strongly believe in hands on opportunities for students are the most effective approaches to teaching.
